Faculties

Emily Carr has four distinct faculties which serve our undergraduate and graduate students.

Our Faculties, encompassing Art, Culture + Community, Design + Dynamic Media and Graduate Studies, form the core of our creative and scholarly identity. Each faculty offers robust undergraduate or graduate pathways, grounded in studio practice, research, cultural inquiry and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Together, they ensure students gain the skills, critical perspectives and professional insight needed to shape cultural and creative futures.

Surrounding the flowers are radiating black wires arched in curved patterns, creating a dynamic contrast between the vibrant blooms and the dark structural lines.

Faculty of Culture + Community

The Faculty of Culture + Community provides the academic core for every undergraduate student, including the Foundation Year. Majors and minors connect theory, writing, cultural practice and community engagement with studio learning.

Courses emphasize social awareness, sustainability and collaborations with public, non-profit and community partners.
