Student Spaces + Clubs

Life at ECU happens everywhere — in commons, lounges, galleries and tucked-away nooks where students meet, create and recharge.

Our campus is designed to bring people together, with spaces for study, collaboration and relaxation woven throughout the building.

Student Commons + Café Seating

The Student Commons on Level 2 is a busy hub where you’ll always find people sketching, studying or catching up over coffee. With open tables near the Library, Galleries and The Caf, it’s the social heart of campus.

Cozy Corners Around Campus

Across every floor, you’ll find couches, pillows and soft seating that make great spots to work or unwind. These informal spaces are popular for quick breaks, group chats or solo sketching between classes.

Oasis Lounge + Wellness Kitchen

From mindfulness sessions and dog therapy in the Oasis Lounge to cooking socials in the Wellness Kitchen, these spaces bring students together to share food, rest and recharge. Learn more about programming through Student Wellness.

Students’ Union + Clubs

The Emily Carr Students’ Union (ECSU) is an independent, student-led organization that advocates for your rights, hosts events, supports clubs and initiatives, and builds connections with university leadership.

Library Hangouts

The Library is one of the most popular gathering places on campus. Beyond books and archives, it offers bright, flexible spaces for both study and connection. Swing in a hammock with a good book, meet friends at a group table or tuck into a quiet corner for solo work. It’s equal parts resource centre and community hub.

We see 3 large sculptures in the middle of the exhibition spaces, with paintings on the walls around them. All the pieces are colourful and whimsical.
