Come sing with us!
Emily Carr Chorus is an ECU community choir open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni. It is a welcoming sonic space open to all voices and all levels of vocal experience. No previous singing experience necessary. We gather weekly to sing songs from various musical traditions. Snacks and tea provided.
Emily Carr Chorus is led by Sharon Bayly, a singer/song leader and shop technician in the 4th floor Stretchers + Surfaces wood shop at Emily Carr. Sharon’s been singing in choirs for over 30 years, and has been song-leading since 2017 with various community choirs including: Local Vocals (dir. Anna Baignoche) / Accapellaboratory (dir. Patti Powell) / Rhythm’n’Roots (dir. Karla Mundy). Sharon initiated Singing in the Stairwell at ECU in 2018 and then joined forces with Jane Slemon and Joy Onj in 2022 to co-lead Emily Sings in the Stairwell. She is now delighted to lead Emily Carr Chorus, and hopes it will support and uplift the ECU community in voice, spirit and song!
