Join us for an artist talk by Rah Eleh, our artist-in-residence, who will be working with the ECU community from March 2–20.
In this talk, Eleh will share her multidisciplinary practice and discuss the creative explorations she developed during her residency, supported by graduate students.
Dr. Rah Eleh is a multimedia artist who earned her PhD from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria. Her work is currently on view at the National Museum of Norway and Karsh-Masson Gallery, and has been shown internationally at the Venice Biennale (ECC, Palazzo Mora), Cairotronica (Egypt), Juno Awards, Kunsthalle Vienna, Vögele Kultur Zentrum (Pfäffikon, Switzerland), Nuit Blanche (Toronto), Museum London, Williams College Museum of Art (Massachusetts) and Onassis Cultural Center (Greece).
She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2023 Sobey Art Award (long-listed), the Chalmers Arts Fellowship, numerous Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Council Grants, a SSHRC grant for her MFA and the CSG Doctoral Fellowship for her PhD.
She has been awarded several residencies, including the ONX Studio (New York, 2024), Intergenerational LGBTQ Artist Residency (Toronto Island, 2019), Koumaria Residency (Greece, 2016), MUU Galleria (Helsinki, 2015), Studio Das Weisse Haus (Vienna, 2014) and the Artslant Georgia Fee Residency (Paris).
Rah Eleh is represented by de Montigny Contemporary and Vtape, Canada’s leading artist-run distributor for video art.
