Students’ Union

The Emily Carr Students’ Union (ECSU) is a student-led organization that advocates for your rights, hosts events, supports clubs and builds connections with university leadership.

All students are automatically members and can take part in everything the union offers.

Clubs + Initiatives

The ECSU supports all sorts of clubs and initiatives, like the Anime + Manga Club, the FLUI Hackathon, the Film Club, the Aboriginal Student Collective, the BIPOC Artist Collective and many, many more. You can also apply to start your own club.

Woo Publication + Radio Emily

Woo Publication is Emily Carr’s student-led publication celebrating work from across all disciplines. It highlights the diverse voices of our creative community, and all students are encouraged to submit their work.

Radio Emily is the on-campus, student-run community radio station. All students are encouraged to join them on the airwaves!

Health + Dental Plan and Legal Assistance

The ECSU has an Extended Health and Dental Benefits Plan, which covers you for medical services beyond the basic Medical Services Plan coverage that all B.C. residents receive.

All students taking more than 6 credits are automatically enrolled and it’s included in your student fees. ECU’s Health and Dental plan also offers legal assistance.

Are you an international student? Find out what health coverage you need in Canada at our International Students guide.

Student Exhibitions

The ECU campus has many professionally equipped spaces for students to share work, spark dialogue and celebrate creativity.

The Student Exhibitions Committee works with the Libby Leshgold Gallery to put out calls for student-led exhibitions.

You can join the committee to help curate, install and archive the works.
