Description

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of interaction design and user experience by exploring how people perceive, navigate and engage with interfaces across a range of digital products and environments. Through frameworks like User-Centred Design and Design Thinking, students will examine user behaviour, usability heuristics and interface patterns that shape interactive experiences. By applying interaction design principles such as micro-interactions, feedback and visual hierarchy, students will develop user-friendly layouts and prototypes that support clarity, accessibility and engagement.

What You'll Learn

  1. Apply User-Centred Design and Design Thinking frameworks to define and structure interaction design challenges
  2. Analyze user behaviours, expectations and dark patterns to inform experience design decisions
  3. Evaluate interface effectiveness using usability heuristics, Laws of UX and UI psychology principles
  4. Design and iterate interface patterns that integrate user feedback and align with reading behaviours
  5. Apply interaction design principles to create layouts and prototypes that include key tools like states and micro-interactions
