Description

Learn essentials of scriptwriting, from applying fundamental elements of story to understanding the impacts of budget and scheduling on creative decision-making during the writing process. With an emphasis on television and short film practices, this course will help you develop and explore storytelling principles such as character, plot, structure, theme, and dialogue. Whether you’re an aspiring screenwriter or storyboard artist, or simply a passionate storyteller, this class will provide you with the industry know-how to start writing your own scripts, from fade in to fade out. Designed to be taken alongside or concurrently with Introduction to Story.

What You'll Learn

  1. Demonstrate standard television scriptwriting processes
  2. Understand industry practices and the function of scriptwriting for animation
  3. Develop a script following story principles relating to character, plot, theme, story world, structure, and dialogue
  4. Analyze and deconstruct a script, paying attention to storytelling principles, and producibility
  5. Use a beat board to manage story structure and beats
  6. Learn formatting and software to industry standards
  7. Prepare and present a pitch for reviews and feedback
