Stop-Motion Animation is a captivating visual storytelling technique that offers a blend of technical and creative skills used in filmmaking, animation, and interactive design. Stop-Motion taps into foundational principles of motion and storytelling, using sequential images to evoke life-like movement and generate compelling narratives. Whether hand-drawn, photographic or found images, you will learn to observe and analyze movement in everyday life, and create realistic motion by considering timing, mass and volume. Stop-Motion is a great stepping stone into more advanced animation practices, and an excellent expansion of creative possibilities for drawing, illustration and photography skills. This course is suited for those new to animation, as well as those interested in discovering new mediums of expression and storytelling. Working in the studios at Emily Carr University, you will learn how to structure stories, convey emotions, and engage audiences, and create tangible projects that showcase your creative and technical abilities.
