Description

This project-based workshop introduces strategies for preparing and submitting applications for grants, residencies, or exhibitions. You will be introduced to provincial and federal funding bodies, online resources for artists and designers, and calls for exhibitions and residencies. Working from an existing or proposed project, you will learn about key components of a complete application, and guided through the process of turning concepts into a compelling application. Related financial planning and documentation will be also be discussed.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify residencies, grants, and/or exhibitions that align with creative practices
  2. Research the mandates, expectations, and criteria of provincial and federal funding agencies
  3. Research the requirements and criteria of a suitable residency program and/or exhibition space
  4. Draft a proposal that meets the requirements, expectations and criteria of a selected space, program or grant
  5. Draft a budget based on expenses for the proposed project
  6. Present project proposal for peer feedback
