A spacious, sunlit printmaking studio with soaring ceilings lined in light wood and large floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of a city skyline and distant mountains. Several heavy-duty printing presses — black and red metal machines with rollers — are arranged on a polished concrete floor. Borrow tools or purchase materials for your studio projects, all in one convenient campus location.

The Tool Checkout + Material Resale (Room C1272) provides short-term tool loans and sells consumable materials used across ECU’s shops and studios.

• Hand + power tools for wood, metal + mixed media
• Adhesives, sandpaper, fasteners + safety gear
• Specialty papers, acrylic, plywood + recycled materials

Access

Open to all ECU students, faculty and staff.


Location

Level 1, north of the main elevators (Room C1272)

Tool Loans

  • Free short-term loans (24 hours, renewable up to 3 days)
  • Tools distributed first-come, first-served
  • Renew in person or by email (subject: “Tool Renewal”)

Material Purchases

  • In-person sales during regular hours
  • OneCard Digital Wallet payment accepted
  • Staff may purchase materials via internal budget transfers using a 14-digit GL code (with supervisor approval)
Borrowing + Purchasing Process

To Borrow Tools

  1. Bring your OneCard to the Tool Checkout window
  2. Request tools from available inventory
  3. Return tools during open hours, no after-hours returns (ladders and carts exempt)

To Purchase Materials

  1. Visit the same window to view available stock
  2. Select materials with staff assistance
  3. Pay on-site using OneCard Digital Wallet
