Shape creativity in the library.

The library is more than a place to study. It’s a space for experimentation and exchange. Students, faculty and staff can propose exhibitions and creative interventions that bring the library to life.

A display case in the Emily Carr University showcases a curated exhibition of creative works. The transparent acrylic case protects items such as colorful posters, sketches, and printed materials arranged neatly on a wooden surface. The exhibit includes abstract designs, text-based artwork, and a book cover featuring a vibrant image. The setup highlights the diversity of artistic expressions within the ECU community.

How to Propose an Exhibition

Successful exhibition submissions demonstrate a cohesive and curated theme and are an appropriate size for the available space.

Students or faculty interested in planning an exhibition in the Library should read the Exhibition Policy + Agreement before filling out the Library Exhibition Proposal form. Library staff can verbally summarize the policy for you upon request.

Proposals can be submitted with the form, verbally provided to a member of the Library team, or a paper form can be picked up at the Library Service Desk.

Submission Guidelines

The Library Exhibition Committee encourages submissions from all areas of study at ECU. The committee accepts proposals for solo and group exhibitions. Students, staff and faculty who wish to curate an exhibition of student work are also encouraged to apply.

Submission are accepted on an ongoing basis. Exhibitors are required to sign an exhibition agreement prior to installation.

  • Grey display case – lockable.
  • Flat glass-top table.
  • Exhibition walls on the Mezzanine level.
  • Lower level walls.
  • Other areas of the library are available on a case by case basis.
