ECU OneCard

ECU OneCard

Your OneCard is your official Emily Carr University ID. You’ll need it to access campus spaces, borrow gear and library materials, print documents and verify your identity at university events. 

Access is assigned based on your role at ECU and your specific course or work needs.

What Your OneCard Gives you Access to 

Never lend your card or let someone into a restricted area if they don’t have access. 

How Degree Students, Faculty + Staff to Get OneCards

  • Log on to MyEC. Go to “My Bookmarks”, then go to “Emily Carr OneCard ID Card.” 
  • Follow the instructions to upload your photo. Submit a passport-style photo (min 425 x 425 px) that is: clear + current, in colour, no hats or sunglasses, plain background, jpeg. 
  • When your card is ready, you’ll get an email with instructions on how to pick it up.
Who Gets Access to What 

Access is tied to your role at ECU and your class or work assignments. 

Degree Students 

  • You must be enrolled in a course to access studios, shops, or other restricted areas. 
  • Waitlisted students will only gain access once they’re officially registered. 
  • If you lose your OneCard, email onecard@ecuad.ca. A $15 replacement fee applies. 

Faculty 

  • Your OneCard gives you general campus access and access to the specific areas where you teach. 
  • Sessional faculty are granted access two weeks before the semester begins and retain it one week after the semester ends. 

Staff 

  • Staff receive general access and entry to areas needed for their roles. 
How to Get your OneCard – Full Instructions

Degree Students, Faculty + Staff 

  1. Log in to MyEC. 
  2. Go to My BookmarksEmily Carr OneCard ID Card
  3. Follow the instructions to upload your photo (see requirements below). 

Continuing Studies Students 

  1. Visit myphoto.ecuad.ca
  2. Log in using your ECU username (without @ecuad.ca) and password. 
  3. Follow the steps to upload your photo (see requirements below). 

Photo Requirements 

  • Colour JPEG format 
  • Plain background 
  • Head + shoulders, eyes open and visible 
  • No hats or head coverings (except for religious purposes) 
  • No filters or digital enhancements 
  • Minimum size: 425 x 425 pixels 

Picking Up Your Card 

  • Upload by Monday to receive your card by Wednesday. 
  • You will receive an email when your card is ready for pick up.  
    OneCard Pick-Up Location: ECU Security Office, Room A2014. Enter through the South Entrance (main doors). The office is behind the Info Desk—use the phone outside the office to call Security if no one is present. 

Bring government-issued photo ID (from this list) to collect your card.

If your card isn’t working, email fclerk@ecuad.ca and include: 

  • Your full name 
  • Student/faculty/staff number 
  • The specific rooms or areas that aren’t working 

Name change? Email onecard@ecuad.ca 

Information about Chosen Names? Your name is part of who you are. Emily Carr University honours chosen and cultural names across our systems wherever possible. Students can update their chosen name in MYEC and see it used in classrooms online tools and day to day campus life. Your legal name appears only where required by policy or government regulations.
