Bio

Priyanka Poulose works across creative industries, program strategy, applied research, entrepreneurship and design. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, she trained and began her career as an architect before a longstanding interest in graphic design led her practice toward branding and visual communications. At ECU, she develops and oversees partnered programs, projects and strategic initiatives, connecting students and faculty with industry and community. She also leads ECU’s participation in Lab2Market, Canada’s national research commercialization network. Her interdisciplinary design background informs how she approaches program development, external engagements and systems within the creative industries.

Research Interests

Priyanka’s research and design interests centre on participatory, service and systems-level design, exploring how human-centred methods can shape more equitable and meaningful collaborations. Her interests span social equity, community engagement, education, creative industries and innovation ecosystems, with an emphasis on bringing diverse communities and stakeholders into the design process. Her practice has brought these interests into healthcare and community-engaged contexts through collaborations with ECU’s Health Design Lab, the Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research (CeMCOR), and BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre. She also serves on CeMCOR’s Community Advisory Council and volunteers as a visual communication designer. Her graduate research explored feminist and participatory design for social change and was recognized with the Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal and WA Architects Ltd. Master of Design Graduation Award. Her approach is also informed by her earlier practice as an architect and graphic designer, leading 40+ spatial design, brand identity, and packaging projects across Outside of work, Priyanka enjoys swimming, badminton, movies and karaoke.
