Bio

Educated in the UK, Canada and Italy, Michael Initially started a career in civil engineering before transferring to art and design. He has done work in furniture design, product design, retail interiors, exhibition design and healthcare design. Michael has exhibited work in the UK, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Finland and Japan.


Research Interests

Michael has done research in furniture design and solid wood products using recycled and reclaimed materials and sustainable wood species. He worked with Triton Logging to develop products from trees retrieved from the bottom of lakes and reservoirs in BC, supported by grants from BC Wood and the Government of Canada Michael has also worked with material shorts retrieved from mills - leftover lumber usually regarded as waste. Michael’s expertise is in the design and development of 'flat pack' or RTA (ready to assemble) products.
