Kathleen Gros is a cartoonist living in Vancouver. She is the author of the graphic novels Carousel Summer (HarperCollins 2025), I Hated You in High School (Andrews McMeel 2025), Anne: An Adaptation of Anne of Green Gables (Sort Of) (HarperCollins 2022), Jo: An Adaptation of Little Women (Sort of) (HarperCollins 2020) and Last Night at Wyrmwood High (Cloudscape Comics 2015). She received her BFA in Illustration from ECU in 2015. She taught comics and graphic novels in the Continuing Studies program at Langara College and teaches art to students of all ages around the Lower Mainland.

Drawing on principles of anatomy, proportions, scale and context, you will learn how to develop characters that can express personality and mood, capturing the essence of your character's story. Whether you dream of creating the next iconic superhero, beloved animated character, or memorable brand mascot, Character Illustration can help shape the stories that captivate hearts and minds. This course is suited for those with some previous experience with drawing, painting or illustration techniques, with an interest in advancing their conceptual and stroytelling skills.
