Bio

John Tolentino is an outgoing, cisgender, queer, Filipino-Canadian, settler-migrant with roots in Italy. He is grateful to live on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh nations. He uses an empathetic approach to meet students where they are at. He is passionate about strengths-based, emotion-focused, narrative, mindfulness, and trauma-informed practice while helping students navigate their studies. He is also interested in social justice and anti-oppressive frameworks. He is completing an EdD at UWO to learn and understand how systemic barriers impact student experience.


Research Interests

When he is not at work, he volunteers with the B.C. Filipino Therapist Collective. He also loves to get a good workout in, go to a museum or art gallery, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
