Bio
Dr. Cory Seney-Coletta is the Senior Director of Student Engagement, Retention + Success here at Emily Carr University, and leads a portfolio of student services and supports spanning accessibility and accommodation, career development and experiential learning, international student support and mobility, campus and student experience, and institutional safety and incident response, advancing institutional priorities related to access, equity, persistence, and student well-being. In this role, Cory advances student engagement and retention by fostering inclusive, student-centred supports that enhance belonging, safety and well-being. With over 14 years of leadership in post-secondary education, Cory brings expertise in equity-driven service design, policy development and crisis response, ensuring students are supported to thrive across their academic, creative and personal journeys.
Research Interests
Cory's professional practice bridges student affairs leadership, equity-focused design and technology-enabled service. With a background in web and graphic design, he approaches student support as a creative and iterative process, integrating digital tools, data and design thinking to enhance accessibility and belonging. His work is rooted in a commitment to equity and justice, ensuring that services are not only efficient but deeply human-centered. Personally, he is energized by the intersections of creativity, culture, and education, seeing his practice as part of a broader design ethos: shaping environments where students thrive and imagine new possibilities.
