Foundation Year

Program Structure

During Foundation Year, you’ll take a mix of core studio and academic courses and electives.

You’ll also participate in the Foundation Forum – an inspirational lecture series designed to help you distill future paths. 

Fall Term – Foundation Year 

In your first term, you’ll develop foundational art, design and media skills through hands-on studio work and critical studies. You’ll experiment with materials, develop creative problem-solving skills and begin shaping your creative voice in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.

Spring Term – Foundation Year 

In your second term, you’ll take more advanced studio and seminar courses while beginning to focus on studio classes that align with your chosen major. Engage with guest artists and designers in the Foundation Forum lecture series as you refine your creative direction.
