| Description | This course will focus on the conception and
development of a student photography exhibition.
Students will gain an
overview of a wide range of historical and
contemporary approaches to displaying photographic
images and develop
an understanding of what it means to exhibit
photography today.
Prompts, readings, and research will support
students in thinking through the opportunities and
challenges of a public
presentation of lens-based work. Students will
engage in critiques and discussions to assist with
the ideation and
creation of projects that critically engage with
the medium and allow them to develop a
relationship with their work
outside the classroom context. Visits to local
exhibitions will deepen students' understanding of
contemporary
photographic and curatorial practices and bring
awareness to the larger critical and artistic
discourse in which
students are situated. |
