| Description | The design process continues to be somewhat
intuitive as well as iterative, demanding
multiple explorations of a single concept. In
addition, the realization of a design often
requires multiple collaborations with
participants. Engaging sketching and documenting
methods as well as low fidelity prototyping in
the early stages of the design process allows us
to make relationships between ideas and data, and
the formal elements that make a product, service,
message, system, or environment accessible to a
public. The primary intention of this studio is
to enable students to develop and evaluate their
ideations and prototyping techniques in the early
stages of the design process.
Students will also investigate the strengths
and weaknesses of various design processes as
social interventions and evaluate the
presentation and distribution channels in order
to leverage positioning of a transformation
design project. Assignments employ active
learning as students propose multiple solutions,
using diverse media and materials, to a number of
design challenges. |
