| Description | This course explores liveness as it relates to
bodies in performance practices that engage
technologies. Projects and technical workshops are
augmented by critical methods, with examples by
contemporary artists that explore an understanding
of performing bodies as sensorial and social. The
course explores the sonic, visual, and tactile
capabilities of performance. The course includes
critical thought on the relationship of performing
bodies to social and culture forms, such as
gender, race, animality, collaboration, and
audience. Various platforms for performance, such
as public, staged, web, and virtual may be
explored. The course asks students to produce a
set of experimental performances in both
individual and group settings. No previous
experience with performance required. |
