| Description | This course explores the possibilities of various surface and colour variations that can be achieved in different types of firing atmospheres. Objects will be made using various types of building methods, including throwing and hand building, depending the students prior experience. Different glazes, slips and terra sigillata that respond to atmospheric environments will be explored. Types of firing may include: gas reduction, saggar and pit firing. Demonstration, presentations, and field trips are scheduled for students, to explore the effects of different types of atmospheres on their work. Assignments and self- directed projects are developed and discussed in critiques. |
