| Description | The course provides students with the
opportunity to develop a significant project or
body of work that draws upon the field of
socially engaged art and design. Through critical
dialogue, research, artistic production, and
reflection, students will situate and
contextualize their projects and processes in
relation to existing discourses around socially
engaged practices in contemporary art and design.
In particular, students will work to develop
ethical frameworks and engagement processes that
dynamically respond to the context and
communities in which they work. Students will
meet regularly for group meetings and individual
project development tutorials with their
instructor(s), while devoting significant time to
their projects outside of the classroom. |
