| Description (ECIAD) | This class prepares students for their future
studies in visual culture and history classes at
Emily Carr through an emphasis on the reading and
writing skills necessary for art and design
programs. After completing this course, students
will
1. Demonstrate understanding of Canadian higher
education context (syllabi, class culture, student
and faculty expectations).
2. Draw on academic reading strategies; assess and
use appropriate strategies for different reading
contexts.
3. Understand and use the writing process
(especially peer and instructor feedback and
revision) to develop academic writing skills
(description, narration, summary).
4. Understand and use the vocabulary of visual
culture to describe the artwork of self and others
in writing.
5. Reflect in writing on academic reading and
writing processes. |
