Financial Aid + Awards
Emily Carr University offers a range of financial supports to help you fund your education — from scholarships and bursaries to grants, awards and government programs.
Each opportunity has its own eligibility requirements, and some require a separate application. Research early to explore all your options and meet key deadlines.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students may be eligible for:
- Government loans and grants
- External scholarships
- ECU entrance and tuition scholarships

Graduate Students
Graduate students can access supports that recognize excellence and creative potential, including:

Other Financial Aid Resources

Indigenous Students
ECU offers financial support specifically for Indigenous students, alongside external awards that require independent applications.

Former Youth in Care
Eligible students who have lived in care can access tuition waivers, grants and bursaries. The Financial Aid + Awards office can assist with applications.

Donor-funded Student Awards
ECU’s donor-supported Student Awards Program honours excellence and achievement across disciplines. Most awards are automatic — no application required — and include annual Graduation Awards recognizing work from The Show and academic distinction.

Emergency Bursary Funding
The Province of B.C. offers emergency funding for current domestic students who are B.C. residents. This non-repayable support, up to $750 once per academic year, is available after tuition fees are paid in full.
International and out-of-province students are not eligible, and funding decisions are based on individual circumstances.

Stephen A. Corcoran Memorial Award
This $1,000 award supports students living with chronic mental-health conditions. Application required.
