Bio

Taryn was raised under the beautiful Alberta skies and is from a family of British and Irish heritage. Before joining ECU in 2017 she held several social work roles and is humbly committed to creating a safe space for everyone she works with. As an ECU graduate, she is familiar with struggles that students face. She has a kind heart and enjoys listening to students share their lives, resiliencies and struggles. Taryn practices within a trauma-informed and strength-based framework, with expertise in the area of violence against women and working with families and individuals in crisis. In her spare time, she enjoys paddleboarding, gardening and reading.

Research Interests

Taryn has a deep love of ceramics. She has been working on mastering wheel throwing but also enjoys other art mediums such as textiles and beading.
