Kristina Fiedrich

Bio

Kristina is an artist, educator and strategic leader whose work bridges creative practice and educational innovation. Her art spans drawing, painting, photography and video, exploring themes of the body, decay, renewal and the abject. She holds an MFA from ECU and an MA from Simon Fraser University, and was the recipient of Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) graduate awards for her thesis work. Kristina is a founding member of the SFU Journal of Comparative Media Arts, and her writing has been published in PUBLIC, Peripheral Review, and Kapsula Magazine.


Research Interests

Kristina has over a decade of experience in post-secondary education. At ECU, she leads cross-functional initiatives that strengthen how the university serves its students and community, focusing on strategy, systems integration and operational improvement. Known for her ability to turn blue-sky ideas into clear, actionable plans, Kristina works collaboratively with colleagues and industry experts to drive meaningful, sustainable outcomes. Her work spans digital transformation, policy modernization, educational program design and data-informed decision-making, all grounded in human-centered design and systems thinking. She is passionate about reimagining education through learning models that are responsive, integrated and centred on people’s needs. Alongside her administrative work, Kristina maintains an active creative practice, grounded in the belief that combining creativity with strategic thinking is essential to build systems and learning experiences that help communities thrive.
