New Media + Sound Art

Shops + Studios

Studio culture is at the heart of your educational experience at Emily Carr University, with spaces where you can create, learn, collaborate, experiment and play.

New Media + Sound Art students work in our spacious, well-equipped shops and studios.

Students gather in a sound lab, with one adjusting audio equipment while another records with a phone; microphones, speakers, and a mixing console are set up in the room.

New Music + Sound Arts students have access to our spacious and well-equipped Shops + Studios, such as:

The primary production space for NMSA is the Integrated Motion Studio – a large black-box production space with quadraphonic sound, projection and a professional lighting grid.

Expert Technical Staff

Each space is maintained by expert technical staff who collaborate with faculty and staff to provide students with instruction and guidance.

Technical staff ensure safe and accessible working environments and lead instructional workshops to enhance your learning.
