Summer Teen Programs
Emily Carr University’s Summer Teen Programs prepare young creatives for future studies and careers in art + design. Through hands-on learning and access to our world-class studios, equipment and instructors, students explore their creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Junior Arts Institute
(Ages 13–15)
The Junior Arts Institute (JAI) is a two-week program designed for curious teens ready to explore art and design in a supportive, studio environment. Students choose one course, such as drawing, illustration, animation or design, and spend the full program immersed in hands-on projects with practicing artists.
Along the way, they’ll build skills, make friends and enjoy the fun of creating together, ending with a showcase of their work.
Summer Institute for Teens
(Ages 16–18)
The Summer Institute for Teens (SIT) is a month-long, pre-university experience for older teens who want to dive deeper into art + design.
Each student selects a studio concentration, from painting and illustration to animation, industrial design and more, and develops their practice through four weeks of intensive, creative learning. With expert guidance, students expand their portfolios, connect with peers and celebrate their achievements in a public exhibition.
