Bio
Gemma Crowe is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher working across sound installation, performance and spatial media. Her practice develops Embodied Sonic Design, composing sound through movement using spatial audio, tactile transducers and microcontroller-based systems. Gemma’s research has been published in “Sonic Design: Explorations Between Art and Science” and “Ecocene,” supported by the B.C. Arts Council. Recent works have been presented at Surrey Art Gallery, Alternator Centre and POMO Arts. Her work is informed by collaborations with disability arts practitioners across film and media production, informing an approach that engages sensory access, embodiment, relational perception and non-normative modes of listening.
