Bio

Leah has worked extensively to support arts-based research and design projects focused on health care, social services, arts and culture and environmental education. Leah has provided writing, research and academic support to students and faculty across Canada and internationally. She teaches in the MFA program and is faculty in ECU's Writing Centre. She supports graduate students with writing and research, trains and supervises graduate and undergraduate peer tutors and research assistants, researches student and faculty teaching and learning needs and collaborates with other faculty and staff to design and implement workshops and learning resources.


Research Interests

Leah's research interests include equity in post-secondary art and design education, environmental studies, narrative medicine, art and design-based research for health and well-being and memory studies.

Description

This course provides students with an evolving series of thematic entry points for rigorous engagement of theoretical, philosophical, social, and political concerns through artistic practice and contextualization. Through writing exercises and workshops, students will work to develop a position paper that discusses the state of their practice in relation to other artists, practices, and ideas alongside anticipated trajectories for their thesis.
