Bio

Ashiya has over 20 years of experience as a clinical counsellor and feels honoured to support clients in their journeys of self-awareness, personal growth and healing. She works from an anti-oppressive, trauma informed framework and takes a holistic approach to counselling that emphasizes mind-body connection and wellness. She supports students experiencing anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, past or recent trauma, racialized trauma, grief and loss, family and relationship challenges and identity development. She is deeply committed to supporting the healing and empowerment of marginalized communities.


Research Interests

Her research focuses on healing intergenerational trauma for racialized communities, decolonizing therapeutic practices and integrating clients' cultural traditions, and using systematic approaches to the healing process. She aims to create safer, calmer, supportive spaces for racialized and marginalized clients, moving beyond exclusively western approaches.
