Our Library staff support learning, research and creative practice across campus. They help students and faculty access collections, offer research guidance and maintain welcoming study and resource spaces.

sec is an artish and bookish human of settler ancestry who grew up in rural Alberta on Treaty 7 territories and is currently living by the ocean in the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Angela Evans
Library Technician, Circulation
Angela has worked the front desk of the ECU Library since 2014. They handle the course reserves, perform student outreach, do social media work, occasional IT support, and help to solve whatever unique problems students, staff and faculty throw their way. They can sometimes be found in the rooftop garden.

D. Vanessa Kam
University Librarian
D. Vanessa Kam holds Master degrees in Art History (with a specialization in contemporary Latin American art) and Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been in leadership positions at academic libraries in Canada and the United States for 20 years. Her main interests in librarianship include special collections, particularly artists’ books and archives.

Kristy Waller
Archivist (Non-teaching Faculty)
Kristy Waller has been the archivist at ECU since 2019. She holds a master’s degree from the University of British Columbia’s Archival Studies program. Her primary work has been with non-textual records, specifically audiovisual materials, and artists’ records. She has focused on projects that centre Community Archives and collaboration in the digitization, preservation, management, and accessibility of AV materials, photographs and ephemera. From 2018 to 2024 she taught a course on non-textual and audiovisual records at the UBC iSchool.
