Description

Expand your knowledge of game design to create compelling and meaningful experiences through games. Encouraging creativity, iterative processes, early testing and prototyping can help game companies build engaging experiences for players, and reach their intended audience to become a viable commercial success. Following these design thinking methodologies can help increase productivity, promote creativity, and revolutionize the way games are produced. Through the lens of design thinking, this course combines research, design evaluation, brainstorming and pitching to develop and test an idea for a new game. You will learn to identify competitors, who your players are, the role of intellectual property, and how to prepare and present a pitch for the right audience and circumstance.

What You'll Learn

  1. Understand the relationship between game design and design thinking
  2. Understand what Intellectual Property is, how to work with it and who controls it.
  3. Conduct a design evaluation for an existing game and summarize findings
  4. Effectively use research to develop an idea into a fully formed design
  5. Write game design documents using industry standards
  6. Prepare different audience-appropriate pitches including one-liner, elevator and pitch deck
