Discover the process behind crafting the products we use every day. This course provides an introduction to the foundational principles and processes of industrial design. You will embark on a design journey that begins with formulating a design brief, progresses to generating innovative concepts guided by design criteria, and emphasizes user-centred thinking. Engage in basic testing through prototyping with quick mock-ups and models. By the end of the course, you will showcase your designs using both 2D and 3D methods, with sketches and refined mock-ups. Gain practical, hands-on experience and valuable insights into the industrial design process.

What You'll Learn

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental industrial design principles and processes by completing a design project from concept to presentation
  2. Formulate and articulate a design brief based on specific criteria and user needs.
  3. Develop creative design concepts using both 2D and 3D medium such as sketches and physical mock-ups or models.
  4. Conduct basic tests to study/proof & improve the design with relation to ergonomics, functionality, shape & proportions where relevant.
  5. Deliver a design presentation, communicating the project’s development, process, rationale.
