Description

In this course, you’ll explore how the look, feel, and voice of a product communicate brand values – the underlying story that connects users to an experience. Build your skills through image-making, illustration, and writing for UI design and examine how brand identity is expressed through content, style and visual elements. You’ll study how design patterns and systems help translate brand values into interface outcomes and experiment with tools and technologies that support storytelling, research and ideation. By the end of this course, you'll understand how branding shapes user perception and business impact and the role of the UI designer in expressing a product’s identity through thoughtful, cohesive design.

What You'll Learn

  1. Analyze trends and visual styles in UI design to identify strategies that align with different brand personalities
  2. Develop brand-aligned user personas and content ideas to guide visual and narrative decisions in a UI design
  3. Write copy that follows tone and voice guidelines in a design system, such as microcopy or UI messages
  4. Design functional UI elements that reflect brand attributes and adhere to established guidelines
  5. Design one or more brand-aligned visual assets, such as icons, illustrations and animations, to enhance the user experience
  6. Compare product branding across product types to determine a set of best practices
  7. Write a specification for a custom icon, illustration or animation that can be used as a reference by other designers
