The Shumka Centre is proud to announce that we will be transitioning to operating independently of Living Labs.

The Shumka Centre is proud to announce that we will be transitioning to operating independently of Living Labs. In this new phase, Kate Armstrong, founder of the Shumka Centre, will return to focusing on her role as Director of Living Labs. Cemre Demiralp will take the helm at Shumka Centre as Project Manager, Partnerships + Creative Entrepreneurship, and will continue to foster collaborative programming and partnership opportunities across diverse sectors.

We are thrilled to welcome Ashley Cheah as Coordinator, where she will be supporting both Living Labs and Shumka Centre-led initiatives, projects, and programs. As the Coordinator, she will be collaborating with Research Assistants and various stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of programs, such as the upcoming Design for Startups, Art Apprenticeship Network, and many others. Ashley is a versatile administrator with a specialization in the non-profit and public sectors. She joins the team from the Advancement Office, where she has assisted with the planning and coordination of various major institutional projects and events, including the Grad Show and Student Art Sale. Ashley looks forward to utilizing and honing her skills to create a positive impact in the art and design communities, both at Living Labs and the Shumka Centre.
