The colours of the Climate Action Week Logo are inspired by the #ShowYourStripes data visualization showing changes in global annual temperatures from 1850-present.

Join us for Climate Action Month in the Library, this November.

This November, the Emily Carr University Library will once again be participating in Climate Action Month.

Organized by the British Columbia Library Association, Climate Action Month* is a time to "raise awareness, answer our communities’ growing needs, and articulate clearly that libraries are places to connect people and access resources on climate change.”

Building off the work of the BCLA, we believe that, as a library, we are in a unique position to share current, accurate, intersectional, and actionable information related to the climate and biodiversity crises.

In this spirit, we will have our Sustainability Resources collection at the entrance of the library throughout the month. We will also be featuring a few events and displays this November.

  • On Thursday, November 14th we will be running an email and cloud storage delete-a-thon from 11:30-1:00. Join us for some pizza, a brief presentation, some tips and tricks, and EAT + DELETE!
  • Throughout the month we will be hosting a series of repair cafés including a mending movie night (Wednesday, Nov. 27th at 4:30 in C1260), a bike repair demonstration (Wednesday, Nov. 20th in the library), and an electronics repair workshop (date and location TBD)
  • We will be coordinating a field trip to the Capilano Watershed led by ethnobotanist Senaqwila sen̓áḵw Wyss where you can learn about where our water comes from (space limited so please email library@ecuad.ca if you are interested)
  • We will have an interactive thought board on climate action where you can share your thoughts on the climate and biodiversity crises

We do not have dates for all events yet, so stay tuned to our emails and Instagram for further details.

*While BCLA organizes Climate Action Week from November 2nd - November 8th, we have extended the event throughout the whole month.
