Call for Applications: DDM Student Fellowship Program
Posted on | Updated
The Design & Dynamic Media Faculty is pleased to introduce DDM Student Fellowship Program inviting DDM students to apply with their studio projects in Design, Animation, and Film+Screen Arts that respond to and contend with the plural and contemporary social, political and ecological conditions of the world. The fellowships are opportunities for DDM students to highlight how their course-based work engages with Emily Carrʼs EDI priorities and Action Plan.
We especially welcome completed as well as in progress student work that addresses Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Sustainability and Climate Justice, and Ethical Engagements with Technology. Example projects may include, but are not limited to, projects and productions that engage contextual attentiveness to systems of oppression and inequity that impact ecologies and societies, place-based practices and responsibility to the land, ethical and critical use of technology, the social and political realities of communities, expanding relationships of care with more-than-human beings, community-engagement for sustainability, and seeking ways to create social equity or increase ecological literacy, and designers and media artists’ role in fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Eligibility:
Applications are welcomed from individual or small teams of 2-3 students in DDM programs (Communication Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, 2D + Experimental Animation, 3D Computer Animation, and Film + Screen Arts).
Projects must have taken place (or be in progress) within the Academic Year 2021-22 (Summer 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 22)

Projects should be endorsed by a studio faculty member from the student’s program
DDM Student Fellows will receive a $500 award. They are expected to commit to preparing and participating in the mobilization of their projects through a public presentation to take place in the Spring semester, as well as to contribute documentation for online archiving.
