Peripheral Knowing consists of 6 wheel-thrown stoneware vessels. Materials include bone ash from calcined cattle bone, bone ash glaze, inkjet printed ceramic decals, high fire clay and reduction glazes. This work is based in research with bone china.

A wheel-thrown ceramic vessel with rounded walls and a wide mouth. Muted green glaze with patches of reddish brown. Drips of white cascade down the side, with the same white granular material smeared around the bottom.

A wheel-thrown ceramic vessel with straight walls and a rounded lip. Red clay body with a muted blue glaze dripping down, and globs of white around the perimeter of the lip.

A wheel-thrown ceramic vessel with straight walls and a rounded top with a wide mouth. Reddish brown glaze with a meaty texture. An image of a teacup and the text "Be careful, take care, be full of care" reside in the center of the vessel and are of sepia brown color.

A wheel-thrown ceramic vessel, the same as the previous image but from a different angle. A black glaze divides the top left portion of the vessel from the rest, underneath it lies a bitmapped sepia-toned image of a man holding a baby.

About the Artist

My focus is in ceramics and print media and the process-driven nature of these mediums. My artistic practice embodies the connotations of value that form as a result of postmodern culture, and the way material drives culture forward.
