Please join us for a talk with artist Carole Itter in conversation with filmmaker Allison Hrabluik. The talk will include a preview screening of Carole's new short film, Please Meet The Geese Who Have Lived Here Forever, filmed and edited by Allison.

Interdisciplinary artist, performer, filmmaker and writer, Carole Itter was born in
Vancouver in 1939. She studied at the University of B.C., the Vancouver School of Art
and at L’Accademia di Belle Arte in Rome, Italy. Her sculptures, collages and
performances, as well as her large-scale assemblages are influenced by where she has
lived on the West Coast. Among many other exhibitions, her work was included in the
international touring exhibition ”WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution” which
originated at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Carole Itter received the Audain Award for
Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts in 2017.

Allison Hrabluik’s experimental films combine narrative and documentary elements to
focus on the absurdity of the everyday. Her latest short film is set at the Calgary
Stampede, and follows visitors through the chaos and boredom of the infamous event.
She recently directed War Song, a music video for Veda Hille, and worked as
cinematographer and editor on Carole Itter’s new film Please Meet The Geese Who
Have Lived Here Forever. The fictional film tells the story of wild geese in Burrard Inlet
who are chased from their refuge towards a dubious future. Allison teaches at Emily
Carr University of Art & Design.

Visual Art Forums are presented by the Audain Faculty of Art.
