The Occasional Club: Vintage Games & Objects of Play

The Occasional Club is a club open to the ECU community, with a focus on the sharing of collections, including ephemera, books, objects, and otherwise cool artifacts.

Join us for Vintage Games & Objects of Play! Including video game consoles, cartridges, vintage board games, and old manuals from the collections of Katherine Gillison, Brendan Denesiuk, Brendan Tang, and Morgan Martino. We’ll look back to the history of gaming, and maybe even get a chance to enjoy playing some of the classics!

Organized by a team at the Occasional Press and The Stationery Project, the Occasional Club is a free and agile space that expands on our Ephemera Afternoons of the past. Our first event on January 23rd focused on Children’s Picture Books, featuring vintage picture books (storybooks and non-fiction) from the collections of Katherine Gillieson and Morgan Martino, while our second meeting on February 6th had us looking at Food and Cooking Ephemera, with vintage cookbooks and old kitchen gadgets, alongside a collection of found grocery lists, from the collections of Gabe Wong and Morgan Martino.

You are welcome to drop in and take a look, and eventually participate by sharing something of your own! It’s a nice, relaxing activity and a nice chance to spend your lunch hour checking out cool things.
