We're excited to invite you to Shifting Forms - A Symposium of Indigenous Moving Image Art and Animation. SHIFTING FORMS is a FREE and accessible three-day gathering foregrounding the perspectives of Indigenous storytellers working in Animation, Interactive and Media-based art forms.

The event will be held @ Emily Carr University of Arts and Design from Friday, April 11th - Sunday April 13th 2024. The gathering will bring together an exciting lineup of digital knowledge keepers to share viewpoints via a screening of animations, panel discussions, keynote speakers, art installations, workshops, and a VR station.

Friday will include an opening reception, film screening and Q&A followed by performances and refreshments. Both Saturday and Sunday will be from 9:30AM - 5:30PM PST and will include a light breakfast & lunch and feature a variety of exciting panels, workshops, pop up art and VR exhibits, keynote speakers and a VR Jam.

This is an opportunity for collective learning for both storytellers and knowledge holders regarding accountability, rightful representation, and non-exploitation.

Participating storytellers will share their process, identify and explore digital literacy issues, and present strategies for our future generations of storytellers.More specifics will be provided shortly along with a link to RSVP for your tickets and sign up for workshops.

SHIFTING FORMS will take place on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.
