Public Reception: Friday, August 24 | 9-10pm

The chART Projects team has installed a temporary public sculpture, Nesting Nests, on the Arbutus Greenway at West 57th Ave and West Boulevard.

Nesting Nests was led by chART Projects and ECU alum Jaymie Johnson, and features nests made from invasive species that were handwoven by community members at workshops across Vancouver. These nests have been woven together into a sculpture

Nesting Nests will be on the greenway till September 13, and then it will move to Port Moody where it will be expanded with nests we created with community members in that city. The Port Moody installation will be in Rocky Point Park along with a series of public events.

The public is invited to view Nesting Nests anytime, but a special event will be happening on Friday, August 24 from 9:00-10:00PM. The closing of the On the Wing series, as part of the Vancouver Bird Festival and the IOC Conference, will bring together animation, live music, and art.

Visitors will be able to watch a series of animated video projection spectacles directed by ECU faculty member Martin Rose and a team of student animators, as well as enjoying an original musical performance by David Gowen and the League of Flying Monkeys. The chART Projects team will also be handing out ceramic Fledglings. Everyone is welcome!
