In her new solo exhibit at South Main Gallery, Block Gardens, alumna Mira Song (2014) paints the spaces with occupy in whimsical, abstract brush strokes. Rich in texture, Song's work is thought-provoking and evokes multiple levels of spaces we occupy: skin, infrastructure, nature, planet. Her bright, satisfying works are ripe with observation and imagination. Head to South Main Gallery to experience Block Gardens.

Block Gardens runs from July 21-August 3 as part of the South Main Gallery's Seven Summer Shows. Don't miss it!

Mira Song is an interdisciplinary artist based in Vancouver, BC and Seoul, South Korea and has exhibited in Seoul, Hong Kong, Toronto and Vancouver. She holds a Masters of Applied Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, a Certificate in Garden Design from UBC and a BFA from Korea National University in Seoul, South Korea.

In her practice, Song explores natural and constructed public spaces, reframed through the embodiment of different senses that trigger memories and imagination. Song investigates this aesthetic territory by gathering objects and images of architectural and natural spaces which she then re-appropriates into multi-media works, including painting and sculpture.

Song has been featured in the media and magazine including Vancouver Sun and Magenta Magazine. Her work is in the private collections in Canada, United State and South Korea.
