Part of Wood Week BC, which takes place February 23 - March 6, 2017, BC Wood hosts a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Jaime Gillin, editor of Gray Magazine, exploring the “softer side of wood” and its creative applications for interiors, furnishings, architecture, and art. Hear about the process of design as it relates to the products we live and interact with, rather than the structures we inhabit. Bring your questions to the Museum of Vancouver on February 24!

In conjunction with the panel discussion, submissions from BoConcept and Emily Carr’s Student Design Competition will be showcased. This display will feature innovative approaches to designing with wood to create stools. The pieces will be on display prior to the panel discussion to allow the public to engage with talented young designers and get the discussion going!

Wood has played an essential part of the human experience since the beginning of civilization. Wood as a material has been used in a myriad of ways; in structures, décor, furniture and art, as it presents to the builder and artisan a multitude of possibilities for expression. As a natural living material, wood transforms with time and records its history along these transformations. As an element that can be readily manipulated by hand, wood forms the basis of many inspirational designs. And as a natural infinite resource, it has become the focal point of a discussion around sustainability in design and construction.

Vancouver will be host to Wood Week BC 2017 February 23 - March 6, 2017, where more than 1,200 professionals from across construction, design, building and manufacturing sectors to learn, innovate and discuss best practices and innovation in wood building and design.

This exciting and informative multi-day program will focus on the latest trends and topics in wood building and design, wood research, innovation and environmental performance with a range of educational, touring and networking opportunities.

Hosted by the University of British Columbia’s Centre For Advanced Wood Processing, FPInnovations, BC Wood and Wood WORKS! BC, the program will be comprised of four dynamic events over 10 days, where attendees can take full advantage of all Wood Week BC has to offer.
