Open to Public?

Yes

We are so often pressed for time. We spend time, buy time, save time, but rarely do we experience time. In this performance, MFA student Xinwei Che will inhabit 40 hours by attending to candle flames and pigments made from traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

Performance schedule:

April 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12 from 10am to 6:30pm.

The installation will remain on view until April 14 (10am - 6:30pm)

Please note that the performance will be recorded on video for documentation.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Xinwei Che was born in China, and grew up in Singapore. She holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and has been awarded residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the National Art Gallery of Kuala Lumpur. In her MFA program at ECU, she is developing temporal works that are underpinned by slowness and attention, in order to question the linearity and commodification of time in our everyday lives.
