Graham Gillmore | Selfless Help Books
Embrace the complexity of existing with alumnus Graham Gillmore's new exhibit, Selfless Help Books.
Opening Reception | July 26 6-8 PM
Alumnus Graham Gillmore (1985) is turning our obsessive need to find ourselves on its head in his new exhibit at Monte Clark Gallery, Selfless Help Books. Instead, Gillmore's new exhibit posits that less interest in the Self might be what we need. Gillmore's work eschews the straightforward, mixing language with graphics for a broad sensory experience. By placing words in atypical settings, Gillmore targets our concepts of control: which element of a piece informs the other, is it the visuals informing the language or the language informing the visuals? Can our chosen words impact what surrounds us? How much of the Self can we exert on our environments? How much can we change it?
Selfless Help Books opens on July 26 and runs until September 1. Be sure to catch this latest of Graham Gillmore's exhibits.
