The fifth film in the series, Sleep Dealer (2008, Mexico/USA, dir. Alex Rivera) is a prescient futuristic portrait of globalized virtual labour. Set against a backdrop of a militirized, corporate USA/Mexico border, Sleep Dealer unfolds the American dream into a dystopian nightmare of surveillance drones and trafficked memories.
Each screening (including introduction and discussion) in this educational series runs 5:00pm - 8:00pm in the Reliance Theatre, with attendance free and open to the public.
