Families United: Celebrating Partnerships and Breaking Stigma in Mental Health and Substance Use Care
Join us for “Families United”, a community gathering dedicated to fostering understanding and collaboration in mental health and substance use care. This event is part of the BC Mental Health and Substance Use (BCMHSUS) UNITE Project, a broader initiative aimed at disrupting stigma and advancing person-centered care.
The event will include the screening of a mini-documentary series featuring the stories of family members navigating the mental health and substance use system of care. Following the screening, there will be a reception, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. Afterwards, the storytellers and other experts with lived experience will engage in a panel discussion, offering insights and practical approaches to fostering supportive relationships and reducing stigma in our communities. There will be an introduction to the dialogue process and a reflection activity to end the day.
Through UNITE, we are on a journey to disrupt social and structural stigma in mental health and substance use care, and we invite you to join us in creating meaningful change.
